Membership details and benefits include:
- The objective of the FLA is to bring together individuals within the Calgary library community to share and promote the concerns of the library and information professions.

- Membership is open to people interested in the information professions. The cost is $25 per year, and the membership year runs from September to August. To join, print the Membership Application and mail your completed form together with your membership fee payable to Foothills Library Association to the address on the application. Contact the membership director at membership@fla.org for more information.
- Activities , such as lectures, seminars, tours, and social events, are organized for members and non-members from September through June, concluding with the Annual General Meeting. The Activities page also publicizes events of interest to the library community in the Prairie Provinces and British Columbia.
- FLAG , the Foothills Library Association Gazette, is published quarterly and is included in the price of membership.
- An annual Membership Directory is also published.
- News for Libraries posts news items of interest to librarians.
